Rosette Japanese Postal Address AnalyzerBasis Technology’s Rosette Japanese Postal Address Analyzer (JPOST) helps companies manage the ever-growing volume of customer information used in applications such as data warehousing, business intelligence, CRM, and sales force automation.
Japan, with one of the largest economies in the world, poses particular challenges when it comes to parsing, standardizing, and validating postal address data. Unlike many countries, Japan does not have a standard postal address format.
“Japanese addresses are notorious in the business for being difficult to standardize. Basis Technology’s JPOST, via its linguistic capabilities, understands these peculiarities and makes Japanese address cleansing much less of a special case. Data quality vendors looking to crack the Japanese market now have access to a tool that will make that task easier.”

Since the Meiji era (1868-1912), the Japanese government has made several changes to the Japanese postal address system, but has not always applied these changes nationwide. As a result, Japanese postal addresses today contain a mix of legacy and modern formats, urban and rural formats, and unique regional address formats for Hokkaido Prefecture, parts of Kyoto Prefecture, and the Tohoku Region.
Basis Technology’s Rosette® Japanese Postal Address Analyzer (JPOST) solves the issues associated with the complexity of the Japanese postal system by converting disparate formats so that duplicate or incorrect records can be identified and removed. JPOST produces parsed, standardized, and validated Japanese address data in neatly segmented and labeled components ready for data cleansing, thereby unlocking the value of your customer information.
